Towards a Sustainable America Report

This 1999 report by the President’s Council on Sustainable Development builds on its 1996 Sustainable America report. The Council, a panel of leaders from business, government and non-profit organizations, was formed to advise the White House on ways to integrate economic goals with environmental and social goals. It recommended over 140 actions to move toward a sustainable society, focusing on climate change, environmental management, metropolitan and rural strategies and international leadership.
